What we do

Minnedosa & Area Food Bank services Minnedosa, Clanwilliam, Bethany, Newdale, Basswood, Rapid City, RM of Minto-Odanah and other surrounding communities and municipalities.

MAFB provides food hampers on a monthly basis, based on household size. In the event additional food is required prior to next month, supplemental hampers may be provided. If food is needed for a transient individual, this can be provided by contacting the food bank.

Our Story

In the 1990’s the congregation and board of the Minnedosa United Church realized there was a need in our community and created the Food Cupboard under the direction of Pastor Elgin Hall.  Soon, other churches in our community volunteered food supplies as well.

As the needs increased, a community board was formed from churches and the community at large to develop an organization to better serve the community.

This organization is known as the Minnedosa & Area Food Bank Inc. In January 2006 the organization became incorporated and on April 22, 2008 received registered charity status.

We operate under the umbrella of Food Banks Canada and Harvest Manitoba.  These organizations assist our food bank through provision of some fdood items, assistance with programs and grant funding for projects.
